The paper starts with an assumption that the core of an accretion disk, such as a newborn star or the central object of a galactic disk has different properties from an ordinary star due to its extreme rotation leading to the generation of strong magnetic fields. An attempt is made to show that such a scheme can be applied to the nucleus of our galaxy. An infrared and radio overlay of the central few kpc of the galaxy is presented with emphasis on structures related to the nucleus. The central 100 pc of the galaxy at high and low radio frequencies in galactic orientation is discussed as well as the inner 5 pc. Focus is placed on Sagittarius A - the core of the galaxy, and IRS 16 - the narrow-line regions of the galaxy. It is observed that interactions with the central-star cluster and with the circumnuclear disk give rise to the thermal vortex Sgr A West and to the nonthermal spillover bubble Sgr A East, while the relativistic pair plasma escapes supersonically through a galactic chimney into galactic twin jets.
