This paper gives a general overview of the exobiological activities which are currently developed in France through a National Federation of research teams, GDR Exobio. This national body is supported by the French Space Agency (CNES) and the National Center of Scientific Research (CNRS). The four main topics which are considered as priority themes are: - Terrestrial life as a reference - The origins of life on Earth - Exobiology in the Solar System and the interstellar medium - Life in the universe. The researches developed in the frame of these topics are described. Some examples of research programs currently under development are also presented.
