Radiation pressure from the protosun and neighboring protostars may have caused the formation of the comets. Grains feel a net radiation pressure toward the center of the protocomet dust cloud due to the absorption and backscattering of radiation by the dust. Mie scattering is used to estimate the dust-radiation coupling. The dust-radiation coupling is sufficiently strong that the comets can form within the free fall time of the outer protosun.
