The essential properties of molecular clouds, the collision between molecular clouds and the formation of GMCs are introduced. In addition, the disruption and lifetime of GMCs, together with the influences of spiral perturbation and differential rotation on the formation of GMCs, are also reviewed. The effect of the adopted molecular cloud number in the simulation on the result is also discussed.
