Carbon dioxide clathrate hydrate is suspected to be present near the surface of the south polar cap of Mars, and covered by seasonal CO2 frost during winter. After sublimation of this frost during summer times, it may be locally present at the surface where it may eventually decompose. Additional information is contained in the original extended abstract.
