Theoretical metallicity distributions for G and K giants and F dwarfs have been constructed under different assumptions for the chemical evolution of the disk near the sun. It is found that the peak of the metallicity distribution is always determined by the recent chemical history of the disk. Comparison with observation constrains the zero point of the DDO photometric system to be -0.10 ± 0.05 and that of the uvby, β system to be +0.16 ± 0.09 on a scale where the sun has [Fe/H] = 0.0. These zero points imply that the Hyades cluster must have 1.5 times the solar metallicity, while M67 is solar.
