Globular Clusters: X-Ray Sources, Optical Identifications: X-Ray Sources
Scientific paper
A major motivation for this paper is to investigate the feasibility of identifying M81 X-ray sources with globular clusters using the Beijing Astronomical Observatory (BAO) 2.16 m telescope. Firstly, as an illustrative example, the results and method of the optical identification of M31 Einstein sources are reviewed. Next, the recent progress and methods of identifying M81 globular clusters are reviewed. Referred to these reviewed methods, a method is devised to identify M81 X-ray sources with globular clusters using the BAO 2.16 m telescope. By minimizing the positions certainty of X-ray sources using the ROSAT HRI data with high spatial resolution, and with the aid of a world of photometric, spectroscopical, morphological and astrometric information on M81 objects, the method can be reduced to the identification of bright Galactic stars with V < 18 and background galaxies.
