The spectrum of the extended red emission from the reflection nebula NGC 2327 is compared with that of the fluorescence of C60 measured in the laboratory. The spectra peak near 7000 Å and have similar profiles and widths. It is suggested that C60 and its derivatives, such as the hydrides C60Hm and their ions, may be candidates to carry the extended red emission.
