The Expanded Very Large Array (EVLA) began operations last year as one of the
premier radio telescopes in the world. Building on the infrastructure of the
Very Large Array (VLA) the EVLA offers order-of-magnitude improvements in
sensitivity and spectral capability, as well as continuous frequency coverage
from 1 to 50 GHz. The project is on track for completion by the end of 2012,
but the EVLA is already conducting shared-risk scientific observations.
Here I summarize the rapidly expanding capabilities of the EVLA, and
provide some examples of the scientific results that are already appearing.
