The tidal evolution phenomenon in planetary motion is investigated. The
averaging method has been applied to obtain equations describing the
evolution of the planar translation-rotational motion of a planet. Its
viscoelastic properties are described by the multiparametric model of
the linear theory of viscoelasticity.
