Black Holes: Accretion Disks

Scientific paper

The evolution of the inner marginal radius rms of a black-hole accretion disk is investigated on the basis of general relativity. It is shown that rms is affected more strongly by the variation of the black-hole angular momentum than that of the black-hole mass during the whole evolution process from a Schwarzschild black hole to an extreme Kerr black hole. In addition, rms always decreases continuously and monotonously in this process. The range of values for the time derivative of rms is obtained and its physical meaning is discussed in this paper.
