Intercosmos-5 measurements are used to obtain the dependences of the position of the equatorial boundary of the intense precipitation of protons with energies exceeding 0.5 MeV on Kp and MLT. These relationships are compared with analogous relationships for the mean position of the plasmapause and the cutoff threshold of low-energy solar protons determined on the basis of satellite data. The possibility that low-energy solar protons penetrated into the Intercosmos-5 orbit during magnetic disturbances is examined; and the mechanism of intense proton precipitation during magnetic storms is considered.
