The present work discusses the results of an improved calculation of the equation of state for cold catalized matter at densities between 8 grams per cu cm and 300 Teragrams per cu cm. The method took into account (1) the electron correlation energy in the lattice for the region of low densities, (2) a more refined discussion of the electron energy in the region of medium density, and (3) a new method, based on the Thomas-Fermi method, for determining the surface nuclear energy in the region of large densities. There is no appreciable discontinuity in the state diagram in going across the boundaries of these density regions.
