A one-dimensional focusing X-ray telescope has been used to measure the spatial structure and energy spectrum of the Perseus cluster in the 0.5-4.5 keV X-ray range. A significant variation is observed in the X-ray spectrum from different regions of the cluster, indicating different possible emission mechanisms. The spectrum from the region centered on NGC 1275 appears harder and more cut off at low energy than that of the remainder of the cluster.
