The electronic spectrum of the gaseous CeO molecule is studied in the region between 3800 and 8800 A. Rotational analyses conducted on about 36 bands indicate the existence of at least eight low-lying states or substates. Bands of 0-0 sequences dominate much of the structure. The ground state is analyzed, and rotational constants for 34 substates are presented.
