The direct solar radiation incident on the top of Saturn's atmosphere is
calculated as a function of season and latitude. Both the oblateness of
the planet and the shadow of the ring system have been included. It is
found that the ring shadows are important for latitudes less than about
30 deg, where the total annual insolation is reduced by about 14%.
