The paper examines results of measurements of differential electron density fluxes and energy spectra (in the range 0.3 to 2.0 MeV) in the inner and outer radiation belts during an intense magnetic storm (SC on April 3, 1979 at 10.02 UT; a maximum Dst on April 4 at 4.00 UT). Measurements made before the storm, at the end of the recovery phase, and several days after the storm are compared. Time variations associated with the effect of the magnetic storm on electron flux density in the radiation belts are investigated.
