The dynamics of a cluster of nonpoint gravitating bodies, called galaxies, are considered, taking into account interrelations among outer and inner degrees of freedom. The outer degrees of freedom are related to the translational motions of the galaxies, while the inner degrees include such effects as the rotation of the galaxies and tidal dissipation of their energy of motion during close encounters. The interrelationship plays the dynamic role of redistributing the total energy of motion over the degrees of freedom if the energy did not have an equilibrium distribution at the starting time. Either a reversible or an irreversible redistribution can take place. Attention is given to initial assumptions, the reversible redistribution of energies, the irreversible accumulation of energy, and the application of the results of the analysis to model clusters.
