Far-infrared photometry of IC 3568 shows a substantial excess that is not suggested by 10 μm data. A recently constructed model for the nebula permits the temperature profile for dust to be computed. The calculated infrared spectrum reproduces the observations well and requires that the grains have absorption properties like those of amorphous carbon. The dust coexists in the ionized gas but is heated directly by stellar radiation; most of the Lyα radiation escapes from the nebula.
