The narrow-band 1.0 and 1.5 MHz radio emission from the northern polar region of the terrestrial magnetosphere was discovered in August - September 1985 from Prognoz 10. The source is compact (<0.1 rad at R ⪉ 0.5 RE), bright (>1013K) and has 01.30 MLT localization. The emission is beamed in agreement with the theory suggested by D. Jones for this emission.
