A two-phase model and a three-layer model are presented for the diffusion of interstellar matter in the Galaxy, in the framework of galactic evolution, with particular emphasis on the effects of microturbulent motion. The velocities of diffusion of the interstellar matter and the effects of diffusion in the intercloud medium are considered. Graphs are given for changes in the iron to hydrogen abundance ratio.
