A method for the determination of the spatial characteristics of artificial luminous objects (e.g., artificial auroras) is proposed, based on the geometrical relations of space geodesy. The method does not require the finding of compatible points on photographic images obtained at different observational sties. The method may be used to retrieve the three-dimensional shape of the observed cloud and to determine its spatial orientation. It is possible to determine the density of luminous particles when photometric results are used.
