The observational history of the Delta Scuti star AI CVn wasa traced, and it was found to be incomplete and contradictory. It is suggested that the star is misclassified as a spectroscopic binary in The Bright Star Catalogue and that simultaneous spectroscopic and photometric observations are needed to determine the true nature of this star. Spectra presented give the most precisely determined radial velocities to data. The line profiles show no indication of a double-lined spectroscopic binary. The FWHM of the lines vary due to pulsation only, and the line broadening can be explained by a quite plausible value of the rotational velocity. A list of 20 other bright star is presented, which could be misclassified as spectroscopic binaries and are, therefore, candidates for further study.
