Observations of the Crab Nebula at 8.0 GHz over the period 1968 - 1984 show a secular decrease in the flux density at a rate of -0.167%±0.015% yr-1. This observed value is in good quantitative agreement with the rate predicted by a theoretical model for the evolution of the Crab Nebula. The authors discuss inferences that can be made about the characteristic pulsar slowdown time scales in Crab-like remnants.
