Emission Lines: Densities
Scientific paper
The critical densities for some emission lines of astronomical interest, especially in the UV range, are calculated on the basis of recent atomic data. Many lines can be used to estimate the densities between 105-8cm-3. It is suggested that the intensity ratios of [Ar IV] λ2869/λ2854 and [Ne IV] λ2425/λ2422 line pairs are good density indicators.
