An analysis of the redshift distribution of quasars is performed based on previous data to determine the density evolution in the 1.8-3.8 redshift range. Results show that the space density of high luminosity quasars increases quickly with redshift up to z of about 2.4-2.5, suddenly drops by about a factor of five at this redshift, and increases again by a factor of 8-10 between z of 2.5 and 3.8. The drop in space density noted at z of about 2.5 suggests the presence of two quasar populations, one born at z = 3.8 and one at z = 2.45, that both decrease quickly in space density.
