Telescopes, Atmospheric Effects, Instrumentation: Dispersion Prism

Scientific paper

Atmospheric Refraction and dispersion affect the observation quality and efficiency of Large Sky Area Multi-object Spectroscopic Telescope (LAMOST). The atmospheric dispersion of LAMOST, mounted at north latitude 40.4°, with focal length 20m and F5, at transit and transit+/-0.75h is calculated by both ZEMAX simulation and numerical calculation. Some types of dispersion prisms used to correct the atmospheric dispersion in LAMOST are calculated and analyzed in this paper. By comparison, the type to be applied is determined. The secondary spectrum of dispersion prism and remnant dispersions created in tracking are analyzed. The position error of dispersion prism in assembly is analyzed too.
