We are studying the stellar populations in a sample of low luminosity BL Lac type objects in an effort to evaluate the stellar contamination in these objects and to study the non-stellar continuum emission coming from the active nucleus itself. This paper presents some preliminary results obtained for two sources, 0035+227 and 1144+352, using a method of stellar population synthesis with a stellar base.
