A method of CCD image data compressing is presented. Based on the parameterized plate data of APM and taking account of the size and shape of the objects on the CCD frame, a data matrix around each detected objects is extracted and saved. With this technique the CCD image data size can be shrunken by a factor of about 30 in the case of one of the sample fields. This compressed image, without losing astronomical information, can be quickly restored with high fidelity for further re-processing.
