Galaxies Spiral, Disks, Galaxies: Fundamental Parameters (Colors)

Scientific paper

We choose 395 late-type spiral galaxies brighter than 15m in r-band from Data Release 2 of Sloan Digital Sky Survey and investigate color-magnitude relations of these galaxies and their disks. It is shown that the color g-r, r-z and g-z of these galaxies and their disks have strong correlations with r-band absolute magnitude, i.e., more luminous galaxies(or disks) have redder colors than less luminous galaxies(or disks). There are stronger correlations in the galaxies than in the disks.
