In this work we analyse from the classical and quantum point of view the relativistic motion of a massive bosonic particle on the spacetime produced by a static, cylindrically symmetric cosmic string. To do this we develop a complete geometric approach to the problem of gravitational self-interaction. We obtain classical orbits and quantum states related to the particle's motion.
