Silicon monoxide maser spectra of the long period variable star Mira have been observed for over five stellar periods in the v = 1, J = 1 - 0 transition. The polarization parameters of the spectra were extracted and correlated between epochs to find a characteristic maser lifetime. The lifetime was calculated to be 470 days. The 470 day characteristic lifetime is considerably longer than Mira's optical variation period of 332 days. This comparison suggests that the masers are independent of stellar phase. This research has been supported by NSF Grant AST-0606764.
