The C-COSMOS survey is a recently completed 1.8 Ms Chandra program to image the central 0.77sq.deg of the COSMOS field to a depth of 2e-16 cgs (0.5- 7 keV). Adding the Chandra coverage to the COSMOS survey is an important step forward in the study of the co-evolution of SMBH and their host galaxies, especially for what concern the SED of faint AGNs and starburst galaxies. I will present the survey strategy and the main scientific objectives expected from the full exploitation of the truly multiwavelength dataset available (including HST, Spitzer, multiband optical and near-IR photometry, and deep IMACS and VLT optical spectroscopy). I will concentrate on the multiwavelength properties of the ~2000 X-ray sources detected, and will focus on a few examples of the most interesting classes of objects (obscured AGN, close pairs, off-nuclear objects).
