Effects responsible for the differences found between the values of the redshift cut-off obtained using different numerical methods are explored. The general approach to cosmological evolution based on the conservation equation has been applied to radio sources. The numerical results of two methods are considered: (1) a fully free-form method; and (2) a method which assumes pure density evolution of the most luminous sources. It is suggested that the general assumptions of the second method concerning the shape of the calculated evolution function may be responsible for shifting the value of the redshift cut-off to higher redshift values.
