As part of the Canadian Galactic Plane Survey (CGPS) we have imaged the polarized emission at 1420 MHz. Using the Synthesis Telescope at the Dominion Radio Astrophysical Observatory (DRAO), we have obtained coverage of all spatial structures from 1 to 30 arcminutes. The sensitivity in the Stokes Q and U images is 300 microJanskys per beam. Coverage of the Galactic plane will eventually extend from latitude -3.5 to 5.5° over longitudes 55 to 192° with a northward extension to 17.5° latitude over the longitude range from 100 to 117°. Data for a slightly smaller region will be presented. Complementary data from the Effelsberg 100 m Telescope and the DRAO 26 m Telescope for spatial frequencies down to zero are available for some regions. Technical aspects of combining these datasets will be discussed. Small-scale structure in the polarized emission is found almost everywhere in the Galactic plane, bearing little resemblance to emission seen in total intensity. Most of the polarized structure is generated by Faraday rotation of a (presumed) smooth synchrotron background. We discuss the relationship between polarization structures and other tracers of the Interstellar Medium. The CGPS is a Canadian project with international partners, and is supported by a grant from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC). DRAO is operated as a national facility by the National Research Council of Canada. The Effelsberg telescope is operated by the Max-Planck-Institut fuer Radioastronomie, Germany.
