The optical spectra of the Cygnus Loop supernova remnant were computed with a shock propagation model to fit the observed line ratios of the single filaments and to study their structure. It was found that the model can be used for each filament regardless of its spectrum, the filaments can be fitted with a uniform abundance at various temperatures, and the gas is fully ionized before entering the shock. A consistent model is presented for the X-ray and optical emission of the Cygnus Loop and the Crab Nebula.
