The problem of calculating the nutation of the earth with allowance for the compressible liquid core is studied. An original method for solving this type of problem based on the use of eigenfunctions of the Poincare operator is proposed. An efficient method is presented for calculating the amplitude of the forced nutation for a simple model of the earth with a compressible core. The method is shown to have a high rate of convergence.
