The Bolocam 1.1 mm Galactic Plane Survey (BGPS) is the first of many planned and ongoing unbiased submillimeter surveys of the Galactic Plane. The BGPS currently covers 150 square degrees, including continuous coverage from l=350 to l=90 (-0.5 < b < 0.5) and selected regions in the outer Galaxy such as W3/4/5, the Perseus Arm, and Gem OB1. In this poster, we describe the data acquisition and reduction of this data with an eye towards informing future ground-based surveys. We lay out the observing strategy and discuss issues of high accuracy flux calibration and pointing verification in the millimeter. We particularly address the challenges of high dynamic range imaging in the presence of large atmospheric fluctuation noise. We include sample images and a detailed presentation of the mapping algorithm.
