During occultations of Voyager 1 and 2 by Saturn, the radio links from the spacecraft were utilized to probe the atmosphere of the planet at latitudes ranging from 36.7°N to 79.7°S. The measurements, which were conducted at wavelengths of 13 cm (S band) and 3.6 cm (X band), have yielded profiles in height of the electron number density in the ionosphere and the gas refractivity, number density, pressure, temperature, and ammonia abundance in the troposphere and stratosphere. From the vertical pressure profiles obtained at different latitudes, the size and shape of Saturn's isobaric surfaces are determined.
