The ATIC (Advanced Thin Ionization Calorimeter) experiment has measured the spectrum of high energy electrons on a series of balloon flights circumnavigating the Antarctic Continent. The High Energy Stereoscopic System (HESS) is a group of atmospheric Cherenkov telescopes, located in Namibia, that report separating the electron induced air showers from the proton initiated background air showers. ATIC is a high resolution, low statistics measurement while HESS has larger statistics but poorer resolution. Yet both results show an enhanced electron flux, in the > 300 GeV region, with respect to the anticipated secondary electron flux calculated with the GALPROP interstellar propagation code. However, the shape of the reported spectra differ between the two investigations. This review talk will summarize the results from both experiments, contrast the measurements and describe some of the systematic uncertainties affecting the interpretation of the results.
