Ap stars are stars with peculiar characteristics which made it difficult to assign them to the stellar types of the conventional classification scheme. Ap stars are frequently observed. Up to 10% Ap stars are found in the case of the concerned spectral types. Attention is given to the spectroscopic properties of the Ap stars, aspects of stellar spectrum and stellar composition, the very intense stellar magnetic field and the approaches used for its study, questions of stellar variations, UV observations, and theoretical considerations regarding the characteristics of Ap stars and the involved mechanisms.
