The angular distribution of gamma-ray burst localizations was analyzed by calculating low-order multiple moments of their distribution on the celestial sphere. The method is coordinate free and takes into account the finite sizes of gamma-ray burst error boxes. It is found that the dipole and quadrupole moments of the localizations in the gamma-ray burst catalog of the interplanetary burst detector network are consistent with an isotropic distribution of sources.
