A lunar occultation of the Mira variable R Leonis was recorded with the TIRGO infrared telescope through a CVF filter centered on the Br-gamma line of atomic hydrogen at 2.16 microns. Analysis of the light-curve leads to an angular diameter of phi = 33 +/-1.3 mas, from which an effective temperature of 2450 +/-150 K may be derived. These results, when compared to previously published measurements, are consistent with the hypothesis of a wavelength-dependent extent of the stellar atmosphere.
