We present the formulas which enable a fast calculation of the acceleration of a small body perturbed by a ring of given radius and mass situated around a central star. One invariant of motion is found. This work is the first step toward a semi-analytical description of the acceleration due to a planar belt extending from a lower to an upper radius with a given power-law radial distribution of matter.
