Radiative Transfer: Earth Atmosphere

On the basis of applied radiative transfer theory, the determination of the spatial-frequency transfer function for the Earth's atmosphere has been made. It is shown that an aerosol atmosphere is a spatial-low frequency filter. Introducing into the filtration theory a fitting parameter (threshold frequency) allows us to carry out semi-analytical approximations for atmospheric radiative correction of multispectral satellite data. By using the linear systems theory, an influence of atmospheric turbulence is considered briefly. It is shown that for satellite observing conditions the influence of multiple light scattering processes in the Earth's atmosphere is more significant on spatial frequency filtering than turbulence effects. Finally, the mirror symmetry principle is used for modeling of photometrical values in a uniform slab.
