A rhenium solar-thermal receiver/absorber propulsion (STRAP) device has been designed and fabricated. Its uniqueness lies in its simplicity of design and fabrication, consisting of just three components electron beam welded together: a rhenium foam heat exchanger between inner and outer rhenium structural shells, with the thrust chamber integral to the outer shell. Plans have been developed for testing this device at the Air Force Phillips Laboratory.
