Progress in solar corona research is discussed. Coronal observations using X-ray telescopes, radio telescopes, and coronagraphs are described. The interactions of magnetic fields, electric currents, and gas pressure to produce coronal phenomena are considered, reporting on the use of models to explain some of the phenomena. The heating of the corona by sound waves or MHD waves is addressed. The effects of changes in the solar wind emanating from the corona on the earth, mediated by the wind's interaction with the earth's magnetosphere, are described.
