Certain photometric and polarimetric features of the emission from Her X-1, are analyzed, and an empirical model for a blob is constructed. Physical reasons are given for the blob persistence and evolution. The model makes it possible to interpret diverse observational data on blob matter and to make predictions of observational manifestations in the optical, UV, and X-ray bands. The first results of optical spectrum observations of blobs are described.
