The problem of the "forest" of absorption lines in the spectra of quasars is discussed in the frame of the A-theory of formation and evolution of the structure of the Universe. It is assumed that the hidden mass is connected with neutrino-like particles (possibly unstable) with a rest mass of the order of 60 - 100 eV. An observational test for the hypothesis proposed is discussed.
