The authors discuss the 3000 Å bump in quasars and Seyfert galaxies on the basis of the Cerenkov line emission model. They believe that the continuum around 3000 Å is made up of a nonthermal power-law spectrum, a black body spectrum from the accretion disk, a different black body spectrum from broad line region cloudlets and Fe II lines. Numerical calculation of the Seyfert galaxy NGC 4151 shows a good agreement with observations; it can be taken as a strong support for the Cerenkov line emission theory.
